THE CARTRIDGE CAN NOW BE REGENERATED BY SOAKING IN A STRONG BRINE (SOFTENER SALT) BATH OVERNIGHT.  RINSE BEFORE REPLACING AND USING THE CARTRIDGE.  A STANDARD HARDNESS TEST WILL ALLOW YOU TO MONITOR THE CARTRIDGE'S NEED TO BE REGENERATED.  ONCE YOU GET A TEST INDICATING HARDNESS BREAKTHROUGH - GIVE IT A BATH!  Use this product if you fill your boiler with well water without the capability of pre-softening the water. This is the single most effective process to help eliminate mineral scale accumulations that cause inefficiencies and corrosion within your system. It is very important that you then properly treat with chemical (Treatment Solution 101) and maintain proper chemical level at all times, especially with softened water. The cartridge (not pictured) that contains the cation resin can be disposed of after use and replaced with a new cartridge. The housing (pictured) is meant to be reused and should last the lifetime of your boiler. The cartridge fits within the housing. The housing includes threaded fittings that allow connection to an ordinary garden hose for convenience.  

Directions: Place a new cartridge in the housing. Hand tighten to seal. Connect the housing to your garden hoses and fill. It is that simple. Ultimately cartridge resin capacity depends on your well water Hardness.  Regardless, filling even partially with softened water will be very beneficial.  One cartridge should be allowed for each 200-300 gallons of fill water.  THE UNIT IS NOT TEMP RATED FOR BOILER WATER SO PLUMB IT ACCORDINGLY IF YOU SO CHOOSE.
